Notes and rests

Step by step

1. Pick a figure in the palette or press its key: 1 (32nd) to 6 (whole) for notes, and Q to Y for rests.
2. Click the staff: the height of the click is the pitch and the horizontal position is the time. You can also drag the figure from the palette to its place.
3. The tool stays active after each figure, so you can write a whole phrase without picking it again. Eighth notes and shorter ones beam themselves.
4. Press A or Esc to drop the tool and go back to selecting figures.

Tip: If a figure does not fit in what is left of the measure, the editor tells you and does not place it.
